IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vizient, Inc. announces that Ricki Wilson, senior director, analytics services was elected as a group purchasing organization representative on the executive leadership committee of the GS1 Healthcare US Initiative. The initiative focuses on the adoption and implementation of GS1 standards related to the use of standardized data and identifiers to improve patient safety, security and supply chain efficiency.
The GS1 Healthcare US Initiative represents health care manufacturers, distributors, hospitals, retail pharmacies, group purchasing organizations, government agencies and industry associations. GS1 standards – such as global unique numbering and unique device identification (UDI) systems– create a common foundation for suppliers and providers to identify and track vital information about products, locations, usage and more worldwide.
As one of 19 members on the committee, Wilson will help determine the initiatives that are most relevant to the GS1 Healthcare US Initiative mission. This includes advancing the overall work plan, providing input to GS1 Healthcare US positions in response to regulatory standards initiatives and representing organizations outside of the industry. “Connecting clinical and supply data to assess costs and improve outcomes is a priority for Vizient and I am excited to play a part in that by serving on this executive leadership committee,” said Wilson.
