IRVING, Texas (BUSINESS WIRE), November 18, 2020 - Throughout the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, America’s hospitals and health care professionals have taken unprecedented steps to respond to the pandemic while providing essential health care services. As COVID-19 rates continue to rise throughout the country, Vizient, Inc. today shared a letter with House and Senate leadership urging Congress to continue pandemic response efforts by passing another legislative relief package.
More specifically, Vizient emphasized the need for Congress to consider providing hazard pay to front line clinical workers and liability protections for hospitals and health care workers operating in good faith to provide care during the COVID-19 pandemic. Vizient’s recommendations also identified legislation to aid in the development of physician leaders, policies that assist state Medicaid programs and opportunities to support vaccine access.
“America’s hospitals and health care professionals continue to relentlessly fight against the spread of COVID-19, while providing care to patients and serving their communities,” said Shoshana Krilow, vice president of public policy and government relations for Vizient. “Congress must continue to build from its previous efforts to respond appropriately and aggressively to the crisis. Those efforts should include additional policies to support hospitals in future COVID-19 relief legislation.”
