(“Vizient”) today announces it has completed the acquisition of MedAssets’ Spend and Clinical Resource Management (SCM) segment, including Sg2, from Pamplona Capital Management. The combined organization represents the nation’s top hospitals and health systems, and they have delivered billions in savings to providers over the past two years alone.
By joining the organizations’ proven strengths in group purchasing, data and analytics, performance improvement, strategic insight and consulting services, participating hospital and health systems will benefit from innovative research, leading practices and new technologies. The combined organization will deliver increased scale in intelligence, data assets and purchasing to address supply, clinical and operational improvements.

The announcement builds on the decision last year to bring VHA, UHC and Novation together to form Vizient, the nation’s largest member-owned health care company. Vizient plans to bring the MedAssets’ SCM business under the Vizient brand identity by the end of 2016. There are no immediate plans to rebrand Sg2.
