IRVING, Texas
IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vizient, Inc. will host a congressional briefing today titled, “Quantifying Quality: Data-Driven Hospital Performance Improvement,” with a panel that includes experts from the University of Kentucky Healthcare and Penn Medicine. U.S. Congressman Brett Guthrie (R-Ky), is also expected to offer remarks at the briefing, which will be held at 12:30 p.m. ET in the Longworth House Office Building in Washington, D.C.
“Reliable data in health care is critical to improving the patient and doctor experience," said Rep. Guthrie. "We have seen firsthand how cutting-edge data can improve care. I am pleased to be joining the briefing today to hear more about best practices in health care data and delivery system reforms.”
“Over the last few years, the amount of data available to health care providers has increased significantly. This data, and the ability drill down and benchmark performance against peer organizations, has become a best practice for opportunity identification and prioritization. Learning from others about change management strategies and best practices enables swift improvement,” said Julie Cerese, group senior vice president, performance management and solutions delivery for Vizient and panel moderator. “We are excited to host this panel where our member hospitals can share how they are quantifying what quality care means and how it is shaping their performance improvement initiatives.”
The panel will focus on how hospitals are using data, quantitative analytics, shared best practices and empirical metrics to drive quality improvement at their institutions to benefit their patients and communities.
In addition to Cerese, the panel will feature:
- Phillip K. Chang, MD, FACS, MBA, chief medical officer for the University of Kentucky Healthcare
- Patricia Garcia Sullivan, PhD, chief quality officer for Penn Medicine
- David Levine, MD, FACEP, group senior vice president, advanced analytics and product management for Vizient
