IRVING, Texas (BUSINESS WIRE), February 03, 2020 - Vizient, Inc. announced today it has been awarded a food services contract from TPC, a Plano, Texas-based network of health care providers. With its national presence and focus on standardization, the Vizient Food Program is expected to save participating TPC members approximately 10% each year in food costs.

“We’re excited to work with TPC and its members to help them realize cost savings and greater efficiencies in their food service offerings for their patients and employees,” said Greg Knapp, vice president, contract and program services for Vizient. “We are confident the Vizient Food Program can help these health care organizations meet their operational goals and improve patient satisfaction.”

“TPC members have been working together as a system to realize greater value in the food service category for over a decade – it is one of our most established programs,” said Kevin Simpson, director of sourcing for TPC. “In our last contracting cycle, our members recognized an opportunity to capture additional value through our partnership with Vizient. Our benefit will go beyond cost savings and will provide enhancements that will increase performance and reduce food waste.”

TPC will utilize US Foods for distribution and will receive transparency into program details in addition to the savings and value provided across more than 260 vendor contracts. TPC members also have access to expert dieticians and an array of other services and programs, including the Vizient Impact Standardization Program, which helps hospitals streamline purchasing practices to earn additional savings and quarterly Group Buys promotions. Additionally, TPC members can utilize Vizient’s Environmentally Preferred Sourcing Attribute Tool that tracks over 27 specific food attributes on 18,000 products and 23 specific attributes on more than 2,000 different non-food products.
