IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Each year in the United States, at least two million people become infected with bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics and at least 23,000 people die each year as a direct result of these infections. As part of its support of The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Get Smart About Antibiotics Week 2016, Vizient Inc. is hosting two free educational webinars for health care professionals to help raise awareness of the threat of antibiotic resistance and emphasize the importance of appropriate antibiotic use across all health care settings.
The CDCs ninth annual Get Smart About Antibiotics Week (Get Smart Week), November 14-20, is a national observance intended to engage relevant stakeholders – including professional societies, advocacy groups, for-profit companies, state and local health departments, the general public, the media and others – around antibiotic stewardship in the outpatient, inpatient and animal health settings.
“Patients are dying of infections that can no longer be treated with modern day antibiotics. place on Monday, November 14 from 2-3 p.m. CST. The webinar will

Participation for antibiotic stewardship, review CDC efforts, and

new Joint Commission Medication Management Standard related to
