Vizient to Present on Opioid Stewardship at 2017 International Health Facility Diversion Association Conference




IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In the wake of the national opioid epidemic, hospitals and their employees must increase their diligence in preventing diversion of controlled substances in their facilities. Vizient pharmaceutical subject matter expert, Katrina Harper, will share her insight into preventing diversion and the importance of implementing opioid stewardship programs at the second annual International Health Facility Diversion Association Conference Sept. 18-20 in St. Louis.

The International Health Facility Diversion Association is a worldwide professional network whose focus is sharing solutions, knowledge and insight on the prevention, detection, and proper response to drug diversion by health care personnel.

Harper’s presentation, “Opioid Stewardship,” will be given on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 8:30-9:30 a.m. The audience will learn the value of successful opioid stewardship in hospitals, such as employing effective pain management techniques, utilizing treatment alternatives to decrease the amount of opioids being prescribed, and identifying educational resources for clinicians to help them understand and address the opioid epidemic in their communities.
