Vizient to Participate in GPO Panel at Executive War College Conference on Laboratory and Pathology Management

"This is a great opportunity to share Vizient’s perspective on the current state of our industry and how group purchasing organizations are evolving to meet those challenges"

IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vizient, Inc. announces it will participate in a panel discussion for laboratory professionals as part of the Executive War College 2017, presented by The Dark Intelligence Group, Inc., being held May 2-4 in New Orleans. In this lab industry first, Chris McDown, senior vice president, sourcing operations, will share his insights on industry trends and Vizient’s approach to meeting the changing needs of laboratories.

The panel discussion, “What’s Different in How GPOs Are Responding to Healthcare’s Ongoing Transformation: New Directions for National Contracting and Hospital Laboratory Services,” is scheduled for 2:30-3:20 p.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2017.

“This is a great opportunity to share Vizient’s perspective on the current state of our industry and how group purchasing organizations are evolving to meet those challenges,” said McDown. “I am also excited to have the opportunity to hear directly from these professionals about the unique issues they face in their facilities and potentially identify areas where we could collaborate to improve quality and efficiencies in lab services.”

Nearly 1,000 senior lab administrators, directors of lab operations, pathologists and other industry professionals are expected to attend the 22nd Annual Executive War College conference. In addition to educational forums on the art and science of increasing the value of services that labs deliver to physicians, patients and payers, attendees will have access to an array of professional training in the methods of Lean, Six Sigma, process improvement and quality management systems.

“Our American healthcare system is undergoing fundamental changes, not the least of which is the ‘volume to value’ shift in how hospitals, physicians, and labs are paid for their services,” stated Robert Michel, editor-in-chief, The Dark Report. “The nation’s leading GPOs are responding to these changes by developing new services and products for their members. Vizient’s participation on this special panel discussion allows our attendees to get first-hand information on the newer products and services Vizient is developing that help its hospital lab members contribute more to their parent institutions, physicians, and patients.”
