Cathy Denning, RN, MSN
Cathy Denning, senior vice president, leads Vizient’s Sourcing Center of Excellence, which includes a dedicated team focused on advanced supply and contracting analytics, and data integrity. In this role, she provides strategic and operational leadership that guide the philosophy and methodologies for the company’s contracting process and related technologies as well as its sourcing-focused research initiatives and training activities. Denning also leads the company’s extensive member council program and supplier relations function.
Previously, Denning served as senior vice president, Sourcing Operations, and led contracting and program services for multiple product portfolios, including capital, medical, surgical and medical/surgical distribution. Having joined the family of companies in 2000, Denning has since held a variety of leadership positions across multiple programs, including the company’s safety, environmental stewardship and supplier diversity programs, and she has also led multiple product categories and areas of expertise, including clinical solutions, innovative technology, vendor grievance issues, physician preference management, quality assurance/regulatory affairs and environmentally preferred sourcing.
Prior to joining Vizient, Denning spent six years in clinical practice in the acute care arena as a staff nurse, unit manager and oncology clinical specialist. In addition, she worked for seventeen years in home infusion therapy and high tech homecare. Her experience includes clinical practice, market and program management and development, staff training, JCAHO, quality assurance program management and corporate compliance auditing. She has held various positions including branch director, area manager, and area vice president in the Dallas and Houston markets with three nationally recognized companies.
Denning holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from William Carey University, Hattiesburg, Mississippi where she graduated with special honors and a Master of Science in nursing from the University of Alabama School of Nursing at the University of Alabama in Birmingham; Birmingham, Alabama.
